THanks A whole lot!!! Just from doing what it says to do in the "before you post a hijack this log" thread i was able to get my girlfriends parents desktop working again!!! I compleatly got rid of the Drpmon virus!!! THANK YOU!!

Hi Again mfj,

Here we go with your fix. You have remnants of Aurora/nail infection as well as some other possible malware. The steps you have taken so far have done a good job at removing most of the componants, so we will carry out the following procedure to make sure nothing is sneeking about in the background.

The first thing i notice is that you have 2 antivirus programs running. This is detrimental to your system, can cause stability problems and the two programs could try to compete against each other. It is ok to have 2 installed, providing one of them is disabled from running, i however would recommmend that you remove one of them.

Please read through these instructions so that you understand them and it maybe helpful if you copy them and print them out so that you have access to them when you need to reboot your PC, or save them to desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Download and install CleanUp! Here But do not run it yet.

Set PC to show hidden files (click link if you do not know how)LINK

Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find System Startup Service (SvcProc).
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Stop" button to stop the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Disabled". Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Now open Ewido Security Suite
  • Click on scanner
  • Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
    • Binder
    • Crypter
    • Archives
  • Click on Start Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK. This scan may take some time so grab a cup of coffee, book, sandwiches :tazz:
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save Report
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Now scan with HJT and check the following, if they still exist. The previous procedure may have removed some.

The 2 Runonce entries should typically not remain in startups after an install and reboot during which they are executed and removed althought they will probably be legitimate.

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click fix checked.

Now with HJT click on the Misc Tools Section.

Then click on Delete an NT Service. In the popup box type or copy and paste

SvcProc

Press OK.

Now run Cleanup to clear out temp files, temp internet files, recycle bin etc.

Reboot PC normally.

Run this online virus scan: ActiveScan - Save the results from the scan!

Now rescan with HJT and post the log back, together with the Ewido and panda scan logs.

im trying to run ewido, but it wont let me click on archives....only binder and crypter.....any ideas...i followed the install instructions....i dont understand it

From your log, I see nothing in the ways of trojans, nor any evil entities attempting to possess your computer, except for Windows but it's too late for that one. :tazz:

Congratulations your log now appears to be clean. ;)

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
