My friends pc is freezing when he play games. Any ideas.

amd 3200+ 1mb mem 1gb ram geforce 5600xt 256mb.

Games like half life 2 and cod. This has only started recently and there has been no changes to his pc

When you say it crashes...does it flatline, screen freezes and makes this horrible loud pitchnoise, or does it shut off, black screen complete reboot? I could tell you what's the problem if you can specify which crash :tazz:

a complete reboot is often - often -- associated with hardware, especially memory problems (whereas a crash to desktop or lock up is more often associated with drivers).

With 1gb of ram, remove a stick of ram and see if the error repeats. If so, remove the other stick and replace the removed ram.

See if it repeats.
