Hey,

Sorry to probably post yet another svchost.exe error topic, but the error is really starting to tick me off because it never happened until last month.

Whenever I shut down my computer, I get an error similar to the following:

svchost.exe - Application Error : The instruction
at "0x1000e765" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could
not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

This error occurs at shutdown when the Microsoft Windows XP blue screen is showing saying "Windows is shutting down..."

I don't know what the deal is, but it's pissing me off, so hopefully somebody can tell me what the deal with my machine is. Thanks a lot. :tazz:

For a temporary solution. And, if and only if U are not going to use file and printer sharing. Disable the "Server" service from "services.msc".
Also run sfc to check if the integrity of svchost.exe is preserved

Did you get an answer to your question on svchost.exe shut down error message?
I have a similar problem w/ my Dell I8200. Recently upgraded my MS office to 2003 and Photoshop 7.0; since then I get this error message at shut down. Reinstalled MS office 2003 and PS 7.0 again w/o help. Thoroughly checked for virus and spyware w/ latest Adware and Norton antivirus and found none?
Any suggestions?
