Hello jackkv,

Let's see if anything is hiding from us.

Download Silent Runners
Unzip it to a permanent folder.
Start SilentRunners.vbs
When your antivirus is giving an alert, do not block this. Allow the script.
Copy and paste the content of the txtfile you get afterwards in your next reply.

I ran Silent Runners, and it says the results are in WINDOWS\Temp\TD_0001.DIR\Startup Programs, but I look for it and it's not there. :tazz:

When you downloaded Silent Runners, did you unzip it to a permanent folder?

1. Find Silent Runners in My Documents.
2. Click on it, there should be an option to move it, and then click on that.
3. Now there should be a list of where you can move it to.
4. Click on the C drive, and make a folder called Silent Runners.
5. Now click move.
6. Now find it in the C drive, and run it.

If you have any questions let me know.

I right click the icon in My Documents and I have an option called "Send to" ... the choices are 3 1/2 Floppy (A), Compressed Folder, Desktop, Mail Recipient, My Documents, Netscape Messenger and Web Publishing Wizard. Doesn't sound like a good fit.

Don't right click on it, just click on it normally, and look around and there should be an option to move it. I don't have windows ME so I am not exactly sure where it is located.

Hi jackkv,

It looks pretty clean to me. I just want you to check one thing. Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\hpfsched.exe, right click on it, then click on Properties, and let me know what it says. Also, let me know how your computer is running.

Kristy,

Just got a "baloon" message, so I'm guessing there's still something left in this darn thing. :tazz:

Still getting slow after 10-20 minutes of activity too.

hpfsched.exe is a notepad document - 199 bytes, 16.0 kB. Created March 2, 2002.

That was quick!! Thanks!!

Balloon message appears in my tray in the lower right corner and says, "Your computer might be at risk. Your virus protection status is bad. Spyware activity detected. Click this baloon to fix this problem." Pretty fishy since balloon is spelled incorrectly and the wording is a bit too casual. Also, I got another message from the Windows Security Center - not sure if that one is legitimate.

Hello jackkv,

Let’s try this.

Please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=http://
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present(If you or whoever is the administrator of your computer did not set this, then place a check by it as well.)

Now exit all open windows except HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log and any log the scan provides in this same topic, and let me know how your system's working. ;)
