Thanks in advance for having a look at this....

I've scanned the computer numerous times with Norton, finding many things...correcting most. It's found a trojan horse (eknajz.exe) as well. But the problem is, it won't quarantine OR delete any adware (or the trojan horse, for that matter). I've downloaded AdAwareSE...same thing. Maybe you can help...at least I'm hoping so.

We're having problems with pop-ups galore. Some from Aurora...some not.

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:

Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Reboot the PC and post a fresh Hijack This log here along with Ewido Scan report.

Hi Elodav,

Those entries are bad and we will fix them !!!

Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

Run Process Explorer and find the Process - lerlgso.exe - in the list of Processes.
Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...
In the explorer Window select the file c:\windows\system32\lerlgso.exe
When prompted if you want to reboot click YES
Leave Process explorer running with the process suspended.


After the Reboot, run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

How the computer is behaving:

Actually, I'm only noticing one thing that is really irritating me to no end. When I'm typing an email or posting to a message board, etc...it has a tendency to deselect where I'm working...making me click on the email or inside the post reply box in order to continue what I was working on. VERY annoying! (I hope I described that accurately enough...*LOL*)

Something else a bit weird...when I went to have a look at lerlgso.exe like you said...it wasn't there. Anywhere.

However, Norton ran a scan last night (weekly scheduled scan)...would that have gotten rid of it?

Hi,

There is one more small item to take care of -

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wwpzli] c:\windows\system32\msqidyg.exe r

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

c:\windows\system32\msqidyg.exe


Reboot the PC and post a fresh HJT log
