We're stuck at the "Windows is shutting down" screen.
The cursor will move, but the keyboard is unresposive.
The Power button also doesn't respond.

Any ideas? I'm loath to just unplug the thing until I have an idea of what may be going on.

This hasn't happened before on this machine.

I'm trying to avoid (yet) another call to my computer-savy son-in-law to bail us out.

:tazz:

if this is the first time, this has happened, I would press the power switch for five seconds and shut the pc down.

you're not going to achieve anything by leaving it up like this--even if something has gone terribly wrong, you cannot get it up and running from this point.

If this happens often, then post back
