Just to clear one thing up. Yahoo is not a secure site, yahoo is a breeding ground for would be script kiddies trying out the latest IE exploits, dont believe me? Load up Firefox or [bleep] better yet Deer Park Alpha 1 , goto any of the yahoo chatrooms about hacking, listen for a while, a bunch of script kiddies giving out vulnerabilities and worse yet vulnerable IP addressess. Also while your there, keep an eye on your Firewall, you wont register many intrusion attempts at all. same thing with Opera and KMeleon.

Now load up IE and just go sit on the yahoo site for a few minutes and watch your Firewall get lit up like a fourth of july encore.

You mean you actually use Firefox? You support Firefox? In that case, either I must have skipped out on something you said in your previous post, or maybe its high time I changed my contacts. Let's see, what did you say exactly?

Yea I never said I didn't.

Internet Explorer is better.

It is better in the aspect of compatability. And if you didn't take bits and pieces of my post and try to misquote me, you would see that I defined it.

but unfortunately freedom of speech doesn't count where you are literally telling thousands of users of this forum that Firefox and Opera and other highly-acclaimed alternative browsers don't match up to IE.

Sure I'll tell people the truth. Some users like you are so in love with FF that you think IE is completely trash compared to it. I already admitted that FF is more secure and blocks malware. But that is just one element. What good would it do you if you came across one of the several pages that only uses IE, or if you couldn't install a plugin like java to play a game?

This one single sentence very clearly shows your lack of any real knowledge in this matter.

Lmao that one sentence just shows how you misquote people and shouldn't be taken seriously. In that exact same post I go on to explain how it is better one way. And then at the end I say IE is more compatible and FF is more secure. Way to dig yourself into a hole.

Apparently you use Firefox for 'research and browsing the web' - I guess checking your e-mail on Yahoo and Hotmail doesn't count as 'browsing the web' for you then?

I use IE anytime I'm on a trusted site like hotmail, yahoo weather/games, or geekstogo, which is mainly what I use my browser for. If I'm searching for something or going on sites I don't know anything about, then I use FF for protection.

Apparently you are the only user here who faces the same issues. Are you sure your computer wasn't already infected with malware when you downloaded Firefox?

Nope I read the FF tutorial and Faq about installing plugins when I was having trouble. It said that they strongly advised that you don't install java because it could cause severe problems. They gave a link to a plugin which didn't work when I installed it. Like I said before, I'm not sure if they patched it. It wasn't too long ago though. You also need to take into consideration most people don't play java based games.

From what you hear? Guess that means you either a)have a really gawdawful memory or b)are making up untruths about having used Firefox before. Have you even used Firefox before, anyway?

Ok it's more secure, happy? I don't use it that often seeing as I mainly play cd games online. Only reason I said from what I heard was because I wasn't sure if it was a proven fact, but it probably is.

Is that so? I don't think so. You claimed that 'tightened security' isn't required for users of IE as long as they 'mainly go on trusted sites like Yahoo or Hotmail', which is tremendously wrong. If your statement is correct, nobody here on this website would be recommending the use of alternative browsers such as Firefox or Opera at all. Big-name creators of firewalls and anti-spyware programs such as ZoneLabs and Lavasoft would go out of business, and everybody who stick to Yahoo and Hotmail would never have to worry about intruders or malware or the like anymore. Or maybe we guys just have a penchant for sadomasochism. Likely possibility huh, don't you think?

If you truly feel that you are at a serious risk when you check the weather, then by all means use FF. I'm stating my opinion that I trust certain sites.

I have had alot of issues with IE in the past few months. Constant problems, unable to read text boxes, security settings being changed, crashes, mass malware, etc etc. So, I looked around for a different Internet browser. I was going to use Firefox because I heard so much about it. However, I found Opera first, so I tried it. Now, I am able to see text again, NO crashes, and almost NO malware. Before. I would go too just a few sites... Adaware would find about 30 things. Now, after days of opera.... it found 2... Also. No virusus found. I have almost never in the entire time of owning a computer been able to run anti malware programs and find nothing. Its great. Also. Opera opens faster, loads pages faster, and somehow... even downloads faster. I did not even know that IE was the cause of slow downloads or mass Malware. Silly me. I have only run into one problem with compatability, which was not a big deal since I was able to download the file and just run it from my desktop. The only bad I have seen from Opera is the fact that it centers the cursor when I click the scroll button on the mouse.

calm down people, this argument is getting no where fast, everyone has their favorite. They all have an up and a downside. I personally think IE along with windows is cr@p, but that my opinion. Deer Park Alpha 1 thats the way to go.

*forgive the edit it's late*

Personaly i love Firefox. IE is total shiite as usual. Opera is too much stuff in one browser. Others, I dont need to mention. Firefox is neat, clean and free. But its my opinion, People's opinions differ. Better not make it a personal issue and make this msg board an attacking board.

Cheers! :tazz:

Deer Park ALpha 1 is the second generation Firefox from mozilla, It is still in BETA form however I have been testing it for about a week and a half now. If you like Firefox you will love Deer Park Alpha 1.
If you want to try it, it will run side by side with Firefox, goto the mozilla site and get it.

Yea I agree with most that FF is faster and offers better security. I guess why I still use internet explorer is because a lot of the sites I visit don't allow other browsers like FF or Opera. It gets to be too much of a pain switching back and forth, so I only use FF when I'm searching for something.

Better not make it a personal issue and make this msg board an attacking board.

Only becomes personal when people put your name in big bold letters and call you a liar :tazz:

It is also personal when people start fighting to defend their personal opinions.

You know what? I can't be bothered to continue with this...whatever. For one, some of the other things I want to say are far too rude, and I don't particularly want to have my messages deleted by admin. Also, getting into an argument about Firefox versus Internet Explorer is just plain idiotic. The bottom line? IE is complete garbage next to Firefox. Deal with it.

That's, of course, just my opinion. People can go ahead and continue using IE...whatever. Just don't say nobody warned you.

I have Opera and IE explorer. I am pretty sure you can have all you want. This brings up a question. Am I able to safely delete IE without problems. Internet explorer seems to be very similar to Windows explorer. Are they tied togather?
