Hi,

I am getting a blue background with error, i cant change the background (there is no tab)
My home page i cant change.
i Ran Killbox and got rid of some(i hope) but it is still there

1. Copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as AVGoldfix.reg
Set Filetype to All Files and save it somewhere easy to find. We will use it later.

*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt if you get one.
*If the computer does not reboot by itself, do it manually.

3. While your computer is restarting, tap the F8 key continually until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

4. Doubleclick the AVGoldfix.reg we made earlier.
And (still in safe mode) use the DiskCleanup Tool to empty all your Temp folders.

5. Delete the entire folder C:\Program Files\AntiVirusGold

6. In the Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize desktop > Website > Uncheck "Security Info"

7. Then boot back to normal, run HijackThis again and post a new log.

Try this,


1. Right click on http://www.greyknigh...pairDesktop.reg and download that file. Double click on it and click on Yes when it asks you if you want to merge it into the registry. Once that's done, restart your computer.

2. Login as usual and now right click on your Desktop and go to Properties. Next go to Desktop tab->Customize Desktop button->Web tab. Uncheck everything listed there. Then delete all the entries listed except for 'My Current Home Page'. Click OK and OK.

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.


Using Windows Explorer, locate the following file, and DELETE it it is still present:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\hpFEE5.tmp

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

As a precautionary measure, I would like you to download and run the 2 following programs:

1. Please download CWShredder. Download the stand alone version which is free

.Check for Update
.Click Fix.
.Exit CWShredder.
.REBOOT your system

2, Download, install, update, configure and run the most current version of Ad-Aware from the link that can be found at the bottom of my post in my signature pane.

3. Reboot your system.

4. Run HJT, SCAN and produce and post the log into this thread for final review.

5. If everything still looks OK, we will go onto the final cleanup measures.
