Hi, i have never had a problem like this before and it seemed to happen while i was sleeping, my desktop was changed to the SYSTEM STOPPED wallpaper. I got rid of the desktop.html and also the following:
C:\Program Files\SpySheriff
C:\Windows\Desktop.html
C:\winstall.exe

I ran HijackThis and i did as Excal posted on another problem which was exactly the same. I ticked the file: O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe and clicked fix ticked as he stated. I then did the fixspy.reg thing also then restarted my computer and it hadn't worked.

This is my latest HijackThis scan file:

Please print these instructions out or copy and paste them to notepad as the internet may not be accessible through all of these fixes.

First, I’ll need you to download some programs for me:

Cleanup! (Install, but don’t run)
*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Next, I need you to do is to go to TrendMicro’s Website by clicking here and then run a scan..

Please, close all open Windows and disconnect your computer from the internet. Now, run HijackThis! and click Scan. Please place a check next to the items in bold (different colored items will be explained later):

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {016235BE-59D4-4CEB-ADD5-E2378282A1D9} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\APRPS\CXTPLS.DLL
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D968EFBD-2205-09A0-7D21-7DC2BE5646C0} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AFECYD.DLL (file missing)
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
O16 - DPF: {15AD4789-CDB4-47E1-A9DA-992EE8E6BAD6} - http://static.windup...Bridge-c112.cab
O16 - DPF: {42F2C9BA-614F-47C0-B3E3-ECFD34EED658} (Installer Class) - http://www.ysbweb.co...ysb_1002535.cab
O16 - DPF: {99410CDE-6F16-42ce-9D49-3807F78F0287} (ClientInstaller Class) - http://www.180search...com/180saax.cab

Make sure that you’ve visually double-checked that you’ve only selected the items listed above and then click Fix Checked ->.

Reboot into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.

Once in Safe Mode, Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop. Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files
  • Scan local drives for temporary files
  • Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

Now, let’s remove some of the offending programs… go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.

Find the following programs and remove them (if they exist):

180 Solutions
AM Server (and/or POP, APRPS)
ISTSvc (or Integrated Search Technologies)
Wind Updates

Then, navigate (using Windows Explorer) to and delete the following folders and files:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\APRPS\ (<~~~ entire folder)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\AFECYD.DLL
C:\apropos_client_loader.exe
C:\program files\windupdates\ (<~~~ entire folder)

Then, using Search, find and delete the following items (if they exist):

clientcom.dll
comm.dll
sisdx32.dll

Reboot your computer.

You should be able to change your desktop back to normal now.
