<_< I am trying to install new programs and getting this message "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not currently installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

Perhaps in my zealous need to clean, my bf's littered pc I removed something that was not litter. Trouble is, I just did it a few days ago and even with system restore from 1 wk, 2 wks ago, I can't go back to what the pc was a few days before. I can't get it from a free download from MS because it's part of a package deal it seems with XP, not so with earlier versions. Is it true what they say? you can never go back. :D

Click Start -> Run, type sfc /scannow, click okay. Have your Windows CD handy.

This is a duplicate post. I recommended the same procedure.
