How do I check how much RAM is actually on a system in Windows XP? Thanks.

Click on start/control panel. Double click on system and on the box that opens it will tell you your Operating system and near the bottom your CPU size and how much Ram you have

Your Task Manager will tell you how much you have and how much you need. Open it and choose processes. Look at the bottm to find available memory and memory commitment. Do this when you're running your heavy appplications so you'll know what you need to run them. If your commitment exceeds your available, or your page file usage goes way up, you need to add memory.
