I need help removing yieldmanager. I've run Ad-aware and SpyBot, both showing nothing present; but Norton Antivirus identifies Tbpssve.exe, Del5E.tmp, Res21.tmp, vidctrl.exe, common.dll, and toolbar.exe as present, though fails to delete them. I have hijack this on my computer from a recent telephone contact with Syantec's premium virus removal service.
Thanks for whatever assistance you can offer.

tampabelle-
Thanks for your assistance.
I've done everything specified in the "you must read this before posting a hijackthis log". I am using XP home SP2, and have always used the automatic Windows update, and have kept Norton Antivirus up to date.
The Trend Housecall scan found, but could not access or delete TROJ CLICKER.ad at c:windows\system32\AUNPS2.dll.
I reenabled quite a number of items in the msconfig Startup tab and rebooted before running HJT and got one "cannot find file" message.
I'm regularly getting pop-ups, most of which have some form of "yieldmanager" in their name.
My hijackthis log follows.
Thanks again.

Hi Dan,

I am studying your log.

In the meantime, please unzip Hijack This and copy it into a new directory C:\HJT. This will enable Hijack This to save the backups of all its actions.

I will revert to you with the fix soon :tazz:

Hi Dan,

You have a bunch of infections on your PC.

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall sosme programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

1. Download Programs

Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -

Find_Qoologic
CleanUp
Ewido Security Suite

Install Ewido, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Nailfix
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).

2. Remove Infections

please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Run CleanUp and delete all temp files including temporary internet files

Run Ewido full scan. Let it fix any items it finds.

3. Run Hijack This

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AUNPS2] RUNDLL32 AUNPS2.DLL,_Run@16
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hmlpjm.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VBouncer] C:\PROGRA~1\VBouncer\VirtualBouncer.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TBPS] c:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\TBPS.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Optimizer] "C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\optimize.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CashBack] C:\Program Files\CashBack\bin\cashback.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BullsEye Network] C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network\bin\bargains.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bpddha] c:\windows\system32\bthdzj.exe r
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Belt] C:\WINDOWS\Belt.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: App Management - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dlao35.dll
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe (file missing)

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

4. Delete Rogue files

Open Add or Remove Programs (click on Start ---> Settings ---> Control panel. This should be the 3rd item). Uninstall or remove the following items -

Virtual Bouncer
Internet Optimizer
Active Alert
BargainBuddy

Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -

Folders
C:\ Program Files \VBouncer
C:\ Program Files \Toolbar
C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer
C:\Program Files\CashBack
C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network

Files
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hmlpjm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Belt.exe
C:\windows\system32\bthdzj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dlao35.dll
vbouncerinner.exe
virtualbouncer.exe
AUNPS2.DLL

Clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to start> run> type into the box Prefetch and delete all the files in that folder. Dont delete the folder, only the files in it !!!!!!!!

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Run Find-Qoologic2.bat. This will generate a log file; please post the entire contents of the log file here for me to see along with a fresh HJT log and Ewido scan repot.

tampabelle-
Here we go... or rather... here we went...

In doing the Hijack this fix I didn't find the O4-HKLM\...\Run:[AUnps21} RUNDLL32AUNPS2.DLL, Run@16 value.

Nor did I find the last two entries you indicated, the O20 and O23. There was an O20 - Winlogon Notify: BITS - C:\Windows\system32\dlao35.dll. I did nothing to it.

However, in your list of HJT fixes, the seventh one down is O4 - HKLM\...\Run:[cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DIRRun. I did not find that string, but there was one that had cfgmgr32 instead of cfmgr52, which I deleted before realizing your listed item said 52, not 32.

Then, when I rebooted I got the messages on startup: SM1BG.EXE unable to locate component cfgmgr32.dll not found; and An exception occurred while trying to run c:\WINDOWS\syatem32\lvani12N.dll,Dllget version.

And the logs/reports:

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FILES FOUND BY THIS METHOD ARE NOT BAD FILES, There WILL be LEGIT FILES LISTED PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHILE FIXING. IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHAT IT IS LEAVE THEM ALONE.
some examples are MRT.EXE NTDLL.DLL.

Hi Dan,

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. :tazz:

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Upon rebooting, as Windows loads normally, a black window/box appears with the file name (in C:\WINDOWS\system32\) hmlpjm.exe. There is a string of symbol characters (not letters) at the top of the window. I have let it remain for up to 30 minutes before closing it to follow your next instructions.
