Hi Dan,

Can you visit Panda and do an onlie scan??

Make sure that you check the "Disinfect Automatically box" before you start the scan.

Post back the Panda scan report and a fresh Find_Qoologic log

tampabelle-

Now the Panda report I can make some sense of... though of course I don't have the slightest idea what to do about it, other than post it for you, along with a piping hot serving of Qoologic log!
Thanks.

Later that same day... just for the heck of it... I ran another full Panda scan, and of course Find Q, before shutting down for the night.
Voila!

Holy Kamoly! (or is it Wholly Kamolly?) That was my exclamation upon finding your latest post... posted at 6:33AM on a holiday weekend Saturday. When I first found your help site I noted the note about having patience with the process, as you guys do have other lives outside the screen. So I told my impatient self to be patient. But here you are even today at such an hour!
Thank you with a Holy Kamoly thank you, and a fresh Q log.

Hi Dan,

Looks like we are getting rid of it finally !!!!

Please run Notepad and paste the following text into a new file:

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{a6474fcf-2808-4d51-ae36-83ed9e6c2ae5}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{a6474fcf-2808-4d51-ae36-83ed9e6c2ae5}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{a6474fcf-2808-4d51-ae36-83ed9e6c2ae5}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\mqsxnqqx]

Save the file to the desktop as fix.reg and make sure the "Save as Type" field says "All Files". Then please go to the desktop and double-click on fix.reg, and click Yes to merge it with the registry.[/QUOTE]

please run Find-Qoologic2.bat again and post the new log here.

Reboot the PC in Safe Mode.

Run 2.bat.

Make sure that the system files and hidden files are showing. For more information read this http://www.bleepingc...tutorial62.html.

Check in Windows explorer, if you can find these files. If the files are there then delete them.

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Run another scan at Panda.

Post the Panda scan report and a fresh HJT log here.

Hi Dan,

Sorry for the delayed response !!! I was flummoxed by the return of the O4 entry and was doing lots of research.

Well apparently after the registry key is fixed, the HJT entry does return it seems. And now I have the next steps also -

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hmlpjm.exe reg_run

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.

Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with a Find_Qoologic log

I'm almost embarassed! :tazz:
...as I read your "sorry for the delayed response"!
As I wrote, I told my impatient self to be patient as your site information asks. And he was acquiescing... but with all your ready responses so far, and now even saying sorry for a delayed response, he may never pay any attention to me again!
The HJT report and Q log follow.
I would also note that the black window/system box that I spoke of earlier which was appearing on start up, C:\Windows\system32\hmlpjm.exe, did not appear on this startup. I am still getting the messages on startup about the missing cfgmgr32.dll that I mistakenly deleted back you indicated cfgmgr52.dll. It refers to other "unable to locates" - Sm1bg.exe, and Adobe Gamma loader.exe. I was unable to save something in notepad once and got a reference to that missing component (cfgmgr32); also, once when I started up Adobe Photo Shop Elements I got an error/missing message about it also, but the program ran and functioned anyway.
Again, thanks for your generous and ready assistance. I've already begun to reference and rave about your service to anyone who can't get away from me.
And... I love your "flummoxed" vocabulary!

Hi Dan,

If the earlier posts were not visible, I would have said - "what me flummoxed, you are crazy !!! I always knew what I was doing"

Well for one thing I know what I am doing now.

Please visit this page to know more about how to view hidden and system files -
http://www.bleepingc...tutorial62.html.

Make sure your system and hidden files are visible now.

Copy cfgmgr32.dll from C:\Windows\system23\dllcache folder into c:\windows\system32 folder.

Reboot the PC.

Let me know how your PC is behaving
