Hi
I have looked at sites selling Windows XP Pro and XP Pro 64 bit and I
am confused. I eventually want to use the 64 bit version but I am
afraid I will not be able to use my printer or scanner for an
undetermined period of time because of the lack of drivers for 64 bit.
I have noticed a wide range of prices for the Pro but I am afraid of
some of them. I wonder if anyone knows what you should have to pay for
a legitimate version? Low but legal. (Full, OEM and Upgrade: what versions are
required to upgrade from.) I need to know as soon as possible if you
read this and can give me any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks In Advance

Jim Allen

PS I am in the process of ordering parts to build a computer so will be able to use OEM if that is what I decide on.

if you are not buying a 64-bit processor, you cannot use xp64, so that is a first step.

If you are buying a 64-bit process, you can purchase the 32-bit and use the Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition Technology Advancement Program to upgrade to 64-bit free.

Hi
Thanks for your quick responses. I am going to be using a 64 bit processor so I will eventually get the 64 bit version. I will be using the using the upgrade later. I would get it now but there are no drivers for my printer or scanner yet. Thanks again. I am going to give Newegg a try.

Thanks Again
