having problems with my floppy drive

whenever i insert a floppy disc into my drive a message comes up saying disc not formatted when i click ok to format it it still doesnt work any ideas please help as i have all my work stored to disc and i need it for my exam in two weeks

i get that at work and more often then not its simply that the floppy drive is nackard or doesnt like the disks, so probably be best to just fit a new floppy drive.

Just a quick question here, but was the floppy you are trying to get the files from made with a Win9x or ME system??

hiya

the discs have been created using windows xp i have even tried to save work onto a blank disc but the format message is still coming up

Can you go into Device Manager and check to see if there are any yellow or red marks beside anything ??

thankyou very much for all your help i have bought a new floppy drive and connected it up and this has solved my problem
