Hello and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Kat, and I will be helping you get your computer fixed back up and on the go! You should either print these instructions, or save them to a Notepad file on your desktop. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, and you will be unable to access the internet at that time!

1. Please uninstall the following programs by going to Start>Control Panel>Add and Remove Programs:
NaviSearch
Viewpoint
Hotbar
Then reboot the computer.

2. Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check the lines listed in the box below:

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

3. Staying in Safe Mode, please find the following folders and files and delete them:

5. Download the Host Here
Please do not use program yet

Unzip Host to your desktop

Open up the Host program.

• Make sure that the "make hosts writable?" button in the upper right corner is enabled.
• Click back up Host files
• then click Restore orginal host files
• close program

6. Please download "Del Domain" from here

Download it to your desktop or somewhere you will find it. Extract the .inf file from the .zip file you just downloaded. Now right click "Deldomains.inf" and click "Install". It will not appear to have done anything, thats ok.

7. After you have done all of the above, please make a reply here with a new HijackThis log, as well as a copy of the Ewido log and we'll clean up any leftovers!

Thank you Kat for your help! I've been able to delete the navisearch and viewpoint, but am not seeing Hotbar anywhere. I read through each one and don't see it.

Try booting into SafeMode and looking for it then. If it's NOT there, that's great!! Just continue on with the fix!

So sorry for my ignorance, Kat...I found no Hotbox in safe mode. Have downloaded the ewido, but when I click on the second link you gave me to download, it said no such file. I clicked on downloads, but there was 12 different files, do you know which one in particular I need? Thanks so much!!

Go ahead and delete everything in Ewido's quarantine. Also, let's set you a clean system restore point now:

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
