I have a sony vaio desktop, and i recently reformatted my hard drives, and upgraded my OS to XP professional. I've heard that with a different OS, the sony application cds do not work. I didn't really care, because i didn't mind losing those programs, except for Giga Pocket. I extracted the applications from the sony.pac from the cd, and it had the setups for different programs. However, none of them worked because there was a missing file. All I want is to watch tv on my computer, and not the internet TV. i have a TV tuner card integrated. help... please?! :tazz:

Did you extract the UTILS.exe file and run this first, before trying to install from the .pac files, this reboots your pc and looks like it does nothing else, but i have rebuilt my Vaio with XP Pro numerous times and got giga pocket to work and all the other apps. Im not sure where this file is. I may of even got it by doing a factory restore and then exploring the C drive and backing up the drivers folder to cd. Its about 8 meg in size. hope this helps you on the way to getting away from XP home.
