Hey there!

I thought this would never happen to me. I am always obsessively careful about my downloads. My nephews, on the other hand....

Anyway, I am having a ton of trouble. I ran all of the programs described in the "read me first" section. Everything seems to keep coming back.

I also have a folder called "Uploads" that has a ton of zipped files that I have never seen before. I delete them, and they come back. I starting to wonder if there is anything else hidden on here...

Here is my HJT log. Hope you can help!!!

Hi coronalime and Welcome!

Please go to Add\Remove Programs and Remove

WindUpdates
Media Access

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)
Here is a link on how to boot into Safe Mode:
http://service1.syma...src=sec_doc_nam

After restarting in Safe Mode,Configure Windows to Show All Hidden Files and Folders, this must be done after restarting in Safe Mode!!

Here is a link to help with that
http://www.bleepingc...showtutorial=62

Be sure to follow the directions that apply to your Operating System!

Locate and Delete

C:\WINDOWS\cjqnsngf.exe<< File Only!

C:\Program Files\winupdates<< Folder!

C:\Program Files\Media Access<< Folder!

Open HijackThis and put a check by these but DO NOT hit the Fix Checked button yet!

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdate] C:\Program Files\winupdate\winupdate.exe /auto

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cjqnsngf] C:\WINDOWS\cjqnsngf.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Media Access] C:\Program Files\Media Access\MediaAccK.exe

Now Make sure ALL WINDOWS and BROWSERS are CLOSED and hit the Fix Checked Button!!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab
Make Sure Normal Startup is Checked!!

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here
Panda Active Scan

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work!

Save the Report it generates!

Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the Report from Panda!

Hmmm...i guess its just the panda file that is too large. Hope i can add it as an attachment. the only way to get the file size down is to zip it.

by the way...i have no clue what all of those files in the c:\upload directory are. that directory doesnt even exist as far as i can see.....

Thats why I ask you to run Msconfig and place it into Normal Mode!

I need to see a HijackThis Uninstall Log

Open HijackThis and Click Config>> Misc Tools>> Open Uninstall Manager>> Save List

Post those Results!

I think whats getting us is Ad Watch,I just went through this with another user!

First lets make sure Ad Watch is Turned off
http://www.lavasofth...watchauto.shtml

Download Pfind:
http://www.bleepingc...r/pfind-new.zip

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
So make sure all those files remain in the same folder.

Don't use it yet!

Go into Safe Mode

From the Pfind folder Doubleclick pfind.bat
It will scan for a while, so please be patient.
Wait till the doswindow closes.

Post the contents of C:\pfind.txt in your next reply

Make sure Ad Watch stayed Turned Off and Open Up Killbox

Copy&Paste these into killbox just to be sure we got all this stuff!

C:\WINDOWS\cjqnsngf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\9uuk56nm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\p2pnetwork.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CMD.COM
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netstat.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ping.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\regedit.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tasklist.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskkill.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tracert.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rebates.exe
C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer
C:\Program Files\MsConfigs
C:\Program Files\Media Access
C:\Program Files\winupdate
C:\Program Files\winupdates
C:\program files\180searchassistant

Enter those into Killbox one at a time and place a tick by any of these selections available

"Standard File Kill"
"End Explorer Shell while Killing File"
"Deltree(Include Subdirectories)"

Once those are ticked,Click the Red Circle with the White X in the Middle to Delete!!

Make Sure you get a confirmation that each was either Deleted or didnt exist,if not include it for a list to be deleted on Reboot!

Open HijackThis and put a check by these but DO NOT hit the Fix Checked button yet!

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [salm] c:\program files\180searchassistant\salm.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdate] C:\Program Files\winupdate\winupdate.exe /auto

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Optimizer] "C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer\optimize.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [p2pnetworking] p2pnetworking.exe

Now Make sure ALL WINDOWS and BROWSERS are CLOSED and hit the Fix Checked Button!!

For anything that Killbox could not delete, place those entries back into Killbox and use the Delete on Reboot Option!

Restart Normal

Have the PC scanned here

Click Start>> Click Run>> Type in Regedit and Click OK!

Navigate this Exact Path in the Registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Look to the Larger Right Hand pane and locate each of these

cjqnsngf

Internet Optimizer

winupdates

winupdate

Media Access

salm

p2pnetworking

Right Click each and Select Delete!

That should about do it,those are basically Dead Registry entries!

A good Registry Cleaner will accomplish the same thing!
