Yes, clear out the prefetch folder from time to time, also the jar and classes folders in the temp folder, don't delete any folders themselves, just the files, shorten the time that files stay in temp and history, check to see if you need to defragment, not often needed with XP.

- move your page file into another HDD if you have any.
- reduce the number of programs that run at the startup (i.e. msconfig)

there are more for sure!! but that's what I found floating in my head at 8:30am

Get tune up utilities and run the program. It will find everything that slows your pc down.
