alright i looked around for this. just because im ultra-bored. what i found is that you have to uninstall the isearch plugin. well at least thats what i had to do. press tools->extensions then find isearch and hit uninstall. then before restarting firefox type in about:config in the address bar type search into the filter and find all the listings that say ISearch if any do right click -> reset them they should either be blank or say google now. have fun

Remove the Isearch plug in.
Type about:config in the address bar.
Scroll down the list to browser.search.default.url.
Double click on this and change Isearch to google.com - you’re done. All your browser searches will now run through Google.
And if you want to remove/add/edit the search options in Mycroft (the search box at the top of the screen) there’s a great free utility at

Dude it isn't a race. Its about people wanting to help people. Thirdly, yes it does work. Besides, even if it didn't work for you, everyones configuration is different, everyones FIX will be different, when someone asks a question they recieve replies, then they must go through those replies until they find the one that works for them.
calm down, people here don't care how many posts you have.

I wasn't offended by any means, and I do have a good sense of humor, it is just kinda hard to decipher ones tone from a bunch of typed letters.

OK guys, steady on, let's not start a browser war
I changed the browser.search.default.url
browser.search.defaultenginename
and browser.search.selectedengine to Google and closed out the browser.
When I reopened it, it was back to ISearch.
I tried setting it to Google first then changing the setting but ISearch manages to get itself on top again.
keyword.url has value of http://www.isearch.com/?q=
I removed the value but ISearch is back as the default.

If the above doesn't work let us know as that will mean you have the Isearch infection, dont despair though, just let us know if it reappears.
