ok , Counter-Strike (not source) through Steam

My Steam Accout is fine , My connection is fine , My firewalls dont block the game cause i can ping too alll the servers just fine , I've tryed reinstalling , and the game isnt updating at all , i'ev checked monitor feature.

BUT

When i try and connect to a server , or just try to launch CS , i get the box saying that "preparing to play CS" and 30 secs later , the box dissappers and nothing happens.

theres been similar things goin around like it tells you its testing ure video thing and then just cuts off i think its a bug check the steam site.
