Abit Av8, wont allow 2gigs of ram

i have 2 sticks of pqi ddr 400 pc3200 each a gig adding up to a total of 2 gigs, but when i put both sticks in my mobo, it beeps complaining bout the ram, neone know how to get both sticks in?

Are you sure that you put them in the correct slots? If it is shared RAM, then the the RAM sticks will not go right next to each other. You have two sets of two slots. Put one stick in the first slot of one set, and then put the other in the first slot of the other. Don;t ask me why mobo manufacturers did it this way. Sorry if this a dumb answer for you. I am unsure of your computer experience.

na, i tried em all, and it turns out one sitck of my ram is bad so i gotta replace it.
