Hello. I have been trying to get rid of ABI Network all day with no luck. I have downloaded NailFix, and have run Ewido. Still, Auro pop-ups keep coming. Here is my Hijack This log. What can I do to get rid of this, and what can we do to the scum that created this problem? Class action lawsuit?

Hi mark and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. If you haven't logged in go to Geeks to Go and do so. Then proceed to item a.

If you already have logged in, go directly to item a.

a. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window.
b. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
c. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from its present location.

4. Download and run the following HijackThis autoinstall program from Here HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Close ALL windows except HJT

B. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

C. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

We will start by getting rid of as much as possible of the other bad stuff that is around Nail.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Please RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

Thanks- Here is the latest log from HiJackThis. I did see a file called ms, but it didn't look like a typcial exe file. Icon was a wrench. I didn't delete it. Also, nail.exe showed up again, even though I deleted it, and the Aurora pop-ups are continuing. This is probably par for the course, but I figured I would let you know. Thanks again for you help with this!

We must stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

1. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'

Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK

Click the Extended tab.

Scroll down until you find the service.

Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Click once on the service to highlight it.

Click Stop

Right-Click on the service.

Click on 'Properties'

Select the 'General' tab

Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box

From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'

Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'

The service is now stopped and disabled.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
  • Please Download Ewido security suite from HERE.

  • Install the program.
    • When installing, under "Additional Options", uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    • When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK.
  • From the main Ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button. After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"). Now close the program.
Do NOT run a scan yet.
    Notes:
    • If you already have the program please make sure its the most current version with the latest updates.
    • If the program just exits before it finishes start it again and set it up to do a custom scan:
      • Start the program click the scan button over to the left click custom scan, click:
      • add drive/directory/file
      • add c:\documents and settings\
      • c:\windows\
      • c:\windows\system32\
  • Please Download Nailfix from:HERE

  • Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

  • Next, please Reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
    http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

  • Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

  • Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

  • Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Please RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following item:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ofmubyn] c:\windows\system32\tmkjtt.exe r

Now with the the item selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete it by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following file, and DELETE it (if it is still present):

c:\windows\system32\tmkjtt.exe

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren

Apparently, this little critter morphs. It probably occurs when you start up your system or reboot for any reason. I will provide you with a new fix. If when you start the fix that the file that I have mentioned does not exist, replace it with the one you will find in the 04s of your HJT log ending with an "r" which is seperated from the end of the file (I-e tmkjtt.exe r

Print this out please

1. Download Process Explorer from http://www.sysintern...ssExplorer.html

2. Run Process Explorer and find the Process in the list of Processes.

ogrcif.exe

3. Select the process and click Process > Suspend.

4. Then in HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot...

5. In the explorer Window, locate and select the file c:\windows\system32\ogrcif.exe

6. When prompted if you want to reboot click YES

Leave Process explorer running with the process suspended.

7. After the reboot, check the following items in HijackThis.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [auqcdo] c:\windows\system32\ogrcif.exe r

Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

8. REBOOT your system

9. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Hey Trevuren,
Didn't find the file you were talking about, but did find a file with an exe r extension in the 04 area of HJT called pmjott.exe r (or something like that). It has since been removed, though Aurora is still popping up. Here is the HJT log.

1. We must stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

2. Please update the definitions of EWIDO to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

3. Please download Nailfix.exe from HERE and Save it to your Desktop

* Create a Folder on your Desktop and name it NailFix
* Extract both files from NailFix.zip into this new folder

Please do NOT run it yet.

4. Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see HERE

5. Once in Safe Mode, please open your new NailFix folder and double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

6. Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

7. Next run HijackThis, click Scan, and put a check mark beside:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

8. Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Regards,

Trevuren

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://websearch.drs...esearch.cgi?id=
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = websearch.drsnsrch.com/q.cgi?q=
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [efxhspm] c:\windows\system32\hnzqfxs.exe r
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com

Now with all the items selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files, and DELETE them (if they are present):

c:\windows\system32\hnzqfxs.exe
C:\WINDOWS\wupdt.e

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren
