[stuckart]

I've been cleaning and cleaning and cleaning but to no avail. Can't seem to find where the startup of these programs is located. Used ewido after using my Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta 1, but as soon as I reboot all [bleep] breaks lose again. It seems to be a ton better than before, but still infected.

I can see that you have some malware issues. This maybe a few step process in removing it. I encourage you to stick with it and follow my directions as closely as possible so as to avoid complicating the problem further.


DOWNLOAD PROGRAMS

Download and install CleanUp! Here*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.
We will use this program later.


THE FIX

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

1. Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet.

3. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

4. Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for Windows Timer (Timer) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

5. Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

6. Open HiJack and do a scan.

7. Put a Check next to the following items:

Computer seems to be running a little smoother. AntiSpyware isn't picking up as many adware's trying to install and I can actually use some applications without 50 browser windows popping up everywhere. The good news is we took out alot of nasties

The not so good news is that you had a hidden L2M infection....but we should be able to take care of that!

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

• One
  Two
  
• Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.
• Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
• Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.
  
  IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Then post a HijackThis log (not attach) together with the log of the L2Mfix

I downloaded the file, but when I started option #1 I received an error stating:

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Then I have 2 choices "Close" or "Ignore".

Any ideas?

• From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter
• Press any key to reboot your computer.
• After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log.
• Copy the contents of log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

THE FIX

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

1. Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet.

3. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

4. Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

5. Open HiJack and do a scan.

6. Put a Check next to the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINNT\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun
O9 - Extra button: Royal Vegas Poker - {FA4904B4-1FAF-4afd-886C-C19D2297BA62} - C:\Program Files\royalvegasMPP\MPPoker.exe

7. click the Fix Checked box

9. Please remove the following folders using Windows Explorer (if present):

C:\Program Files\spon
C:\Program Files\royalvegasMPP


10. Please go to start > run and type: regsvr32 /u cfgmgr52.dll

Do the same for mnc42u.dll

11. Please remove just the files from the following paths using Windows Explorer (if present):

C:\WINNT\cfgmgr52.dll
C:\WINNT\system32\mnc42u.dll

12. Please post a fresh HiJackThis log. Let me know how your computer is running.

Got through to #10 but then I get an error.

RegSvr32

LoadLibrary("mnc42u.dll") failed - The specific module could not be found.

Same for both this one and the cfgmgr52.dll file.

Am I supposed to still be in Safe Mode?

Neither of the files in #11 were present

I was in Safe mode and had to restart and connect back to the internet. Luckily for me I've been able to use my laptop to check on your messages. Thanks a ton for all the help!!!
