After doing all the repairs suggested from my Hijack This log I shut down the computer for the night . Next day upon startup I was presented with a black screen with the words

BOOT failure
Insert BOOT disk in drive A.

I have followed the steps posted from ADMIN for XP repair but did not get the same screen as shown.

After pressing f8 it came up with:
Caution A windows folder already exists that may contain a windows installation, if you continue it will be overwritten. All files, folders, user accounts, security and desktop settings will be deleted.

Any ideas?

This may sound obvious but have you checked if you have a disk in the floppy drive ?

Yes I did check that. I have been caught on that one before.

The problem is now resolved. It was a problem with the BIOS.

Thanks
