:tazz: Couple of weeks ago I did a really stupid thing trying to uninstall MSN Inst.
messenger -- I ended up removing some useful window components with it.
Most of my accessories ( Sound controls, character map, calculator, mike
control... etc)got trashed as a result of my stupidity.
What I did: In AD/ Remove utility I went to Ad/ Remove window components checked MSN messenger and did not uncheck few other components by mistake. So they went bye bye. Yes, Not very smart.
Iím out of the country and do not have Win XP pro CD with me but I need to restore my accessories some how. I use Skype for business and I canít use it now.
What can be done?
Can any one help please!!!!

thank you in advance

Go to start, control panel, add/remove programs and click the add/remove windows components tab at the left. You MAY be prompted for the windows install cd...maybe not, if it finds all the files it needs.

I did that but the files have been permanently removed from my system and I don't have XP Pro CD with me (I'm out of the country)

Do you know where i can download these missing components?

You can't restore any missing components without your XP CD.

Go to your device manager and see components that has a warning sign next to them, right click on each one and do driver update. that would try to update/fix the driver on that component. It depends if the uninstall you have performed included any device drivers.

I went to device manager in Control Panel>> Admin Tools >> Computer Management but i didn't see any warning signs next to any devices. The components that i'm missing were all in my accessories

I don't have XP Pro instalation CD -- I'm out of the country
