My computer is infected with trojans one of which is Dropper.Small.5.Bp. It was first detected by my AVG. In safe mode, I have scanned my computer with AVG, Trojan Hunter, Trojan Scan, Spybot, and Adaware. However, when I re-run the scans, more objects are found. I have tried to do a system restore in safe mode, but it will not run. My computer is just about to crash it is running so slow. I would rather not have to do a system recovery. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi ellen, welcome to Geeks to Go! <_<

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Some hijacks interfere with the installation of Service Pack 2, so we'll hold of for now. When we're finished cleaning your computer we highly recommend installing SP2. Click here: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/.
-or-
It's a very large download, so if you're on dial-up, order a free CD here:
http://www.microsoft...default810.mspx
