I have had pop up adds all over the place. Nothing seems to stop them. It could be from either 180assistant or Transponder.AbetterInternet. I have run Microsoft and spybot many, many times. They don't get rid of the problems.

I have gotten the error: An exception occured whilie trying to run C:\winnt\system32\bwtt.dll. Exula has also appeared. I have seen lvmdbp1.exe also show up as a trogan .... I think. I have been trying to troubleshoot this for 2 days to no avail.

I ran cleanup and restarted my computer. I downloaded Ad-aware SE (while this was downloading microsofts antispyware updated). I restarted my computer.

Norton's antivirus would not run. I then ran Ad-aware setup. After selecting the write protect option (I'm not sure exactly where this was in the setup) the system crashed.

Then I ran the scan for the Ad-aware and the sytem crashed so I disabled the internet connection. The scan completed this time. The error for DpPMon.dll showed up twice. It couldn't be removed so I rebooted as directed.

Winlogin.exe encountered a problem twice and needed to be closed.

I ran CWshredder. It had the error VX2.look2me.

At this point someother spyware started to run. I'm not sure what kick it off.

I rebooted the system.

Windows logged itself off on reboot.

Ran spybot.

Ran EWIDO. Over 100 errors .... I think.

Ran Housecall. Nothing.

Rebooted.

Popups continue.

It appears you have the latest version of VX2 among other things. This is where we need to start.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

I saved the file to the desk top. When I try and open it I get the error message that the compressed (zipped folder) is invalid or corrupted. I deleted the file and reloaded it several times. All to the same error message.

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

System Startup Service (SvcProc)



When you find it, double-click on each one. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Please uninstall the following (click start||control panel||add/remove programs) If present

Click ok.

It should pull up information about the service, when it asks if you want to reboot now click YES

Restart the computer into normal mode and post a new hijack log and the Ewido log

I know you get 1000 of these messages a day but I didn't understand something you told me to do. You said to double-click on Nailfix.cmd. However, (not being mean ) I said that I couldn't unzip the Nailfix.zip file. You said no problem. How do I run the Nailfix.cmd without unzipping the file?

I have a Gateway computer. The unzip program is Compressed(zipped)Folders. I tried to find it but it had 0 bits as a file size. How can I unzip the file?

I don't believe we made much progress but I did what I could anyway. Following are the reports.

I also move all of the files (Ewido, etc.) that I have been using since I found this malware from my desktop to a folder. I don't know if that is why Ewido had problems or not.

Let's keep plugging. I know we will get this fixed.

Ok... Delete the l2mfix folder. I did see about the nailfix problem so we just got it manually.We are making progress ,sometimes things don't go exactly as planned ( the story of my life ) and yes we will get it

download Cleanup Here if you dont have it
but do not run it yet.
*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure

Please reboot into safe mode Safe mode(continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Now run a full scan with Ewido. Make sure it is set to scan everything. Save the log from the scan


then navigate to C:\Windows\Prefetch And delete everything inside the prefetch folder ( dont delete the actual folder, just what's inside)

Now run the Cleanup! program

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.


Now please reboot and post a new Hijack log and the Ewido log
