Periodically I receive warnings on my desktop telling me that my computer is compromised, and asking me do i wish to fix the problem. Also, every so often explorer redirects me to an online casino site. I can't see the problem in the HJT log. Also there is an AAWTMP folder in my temp files that i can't delete (maybe an issue :tazz: ). Please, any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Coachwife6,

Thanks for your time. I have managed to clear up some of the issues but unfortunately my internet browser is still redirecting me to online pharmacy and casino sites. The realtime ewido security suite is also picking up malicious ware when i connect to the internet. I have run (in safe mode; plus switching off windows restore function) CWShredder, Spybot, Spyblaster, Ad Aware and various online virus scans but I can get rid of this bug :tazz:

I am not sure what to do next or how safe I am being online...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here's my most recent HJT log

I need you to run two things for me and to post the results:

* Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Download and scan (use IE to download) with panda:

Hi Coachwife6,

It took some time to do the virus scan with Panda and my system crashed three times :tazz: Also, I didn't see an option to "disinfect" the 12 virus it found.

Anyway, here are the log files for Silent runner then Panda:

An information bar at the end of the panda virus scan reads "Your PC contains spyware that ActiveScan cannot disinfect. In order to disinfect it, use one of the Panda solutions capable of disinfecting the spyware on your PC." ???

Using windows explorer, navigate to:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Favorites - and delete the links on the right-hand side.

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

And find this executable. Right-click on it and tell me it's properties.

cskob.exe

I deleted the files in favourites :tazz:

Is part of your second message is missing (after you advise me to ensure that all hidden files are visible)? I couldn't find the executable "cskob.exe"

I hate playing with the registry. I'd rather pick up a scorpion with my teeth than mess around in the registry.

So, I will need you to do a back-up first.

back up registry

Go to start>>run>>type in regedit

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

Find
cskob.exe

on the right hand side and delete it.

Reboot and tell me how it's running.

It looks like I can't back-up the registry because my Windows installation CD is not with me. Is there another avenue?

PS I had a peek in the registry. I couldn't find cskob.exe in the specified folder but when i ran a registry search it came up with 12 related items, including two "cskob" executables and a "twhltt" file (which is certainly a baddie ... I had previously deleted "twhltt.exe")

It appears you're already receiving excellent assistance here:

Since there are too many infections and too few helpers, I will leave you in John's hands.
