every now and then my computer (Windows XP) starts sending spam when I connect to the Internet. The Norton realtime protector sometimes manages to stop it.

My daily updated antivirus programs (F-Prot, Norton) can't find anything, neither can Ad-Aware or PeperFix, I also tried some online virus scanners and no viruses or other suspicious malware are found.

I use Mozilla mail, haven't even created a mail account in the Outlook Express.

Hi and welcome to g2g. As your still online, do me a favour and go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, post a new log.

Thanks

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Win Updator Services] ctfnom.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Services] lssrv.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Services] lssrv.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Win Updator Services] ctfnom.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Win Updator Services] ctfnom.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [Win Updator Services] ctfnom.exe
O4 - Global Startup: BTTray.lnk = ?
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - (no file)

Please reboot into safe mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?.
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

ctfnom.exe do not get this mixed up with ctfmon.exe
lssrv.exe

Reboot normally and post fresh log.

The good news is, the first bug is gone, but lssrv.exe is still there. I also tried to delete it through the registry editor following these instructions, but it popped up again.

I really appreciate your help! <_<

Okay, since my motto is "resistance is futile", I tried and I tried and I tried ... till the bugger cracked ... I hope. :D

I turned off the system restore option, rebooted in safe mode, ran SEARCH, lssrv.exe was not found.

Then I ran hijackthis a couple of times in the safe mode. The first time lssrv. appeared, I fixed it, the second time there was lssrv no more! :D

I rebooted in normal mode again, ran hijackthis, and this is the latest log:

Oops! Looks like I missed a few.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Messenger] C:\WINDOWS\System32\msgrsv32.exe

Please reboot into safe mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?.
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\hagrq.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mswin32.exe
C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM Try uninstalling any Bluetooth Technologies related software first and then remove the whole Widcomm directory.
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msgrsv32.exe
svhosint32.exe This one's probably in C:\windows\system32 but might be in C:\windows. I'd run a search for it.

reboot normally and post frest log. If you are clean I will let you know what to do to prevent further installation of malware on your system.
