I reinstalled XP to clear my hard drive, and there's only one display resolution available, the 640 x 480. the computer said the reinstall cd that came with the computer is an older version than the one on the computer, but i figured that shouldn't matter..can it be fixed?

Go into device manager and let XP update your video drivers on the net. Or, visit the manufacturer's website, download the correct ones and install them.
