Hi,

I'd find it really helpful if someone could check out this log and tell me whether I need to do anything else to clean my system. I use Ad-Aware, The Cleaner, Spywareblaster and Spybot and Firefox as my browser; so I'm not sure whether people will have any other recommendations.

Thanks in advance! <_<

I was having trouble with a Delf trojan but have managed to sort it out using the advice given to someone in another thread - I don't have any particular problems at the moment, but wondered if my system was clean or whether there was anything else I needed to do to it.

Update: -

I do need help, seems the trojan is still there - this is driving me mad, have scanned using AVG, The Cleaner, and Ad-Aware whilst offline, and also run disk cleanup. I have Spybot and Spywareblaster installed. The computer was clean this morning, but this afternoon magain I'm getting a warning from AVG about the following file and the message:

"C:\temp\instal~1.exe
windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

This is the installer for the trojan, guess it's eitherblocked by the firewall on the pc or AVG.

When I go into the temp directory, as well as the trojan installer there is a file called "WebRebates_Auto_InstallSilent_Euro" - this has to be linked to the trojan, but it's not picked up by any of the software, thus after cleaning I have been deleting it manually which perhaps is causing a problem - it always reappears at the same time as the installer file.

Here's my log:

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Please reboot into safe mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?.
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\Cpqdiag\
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sfg61cd.dll
C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd
C:\WINDOWS\System32\olesvc.exe
c:\WINDOWS\system32\winsrvs_1.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sfg61cd.dll
C:\Security\SafeGuard Popup Blocker Pro\SGPopupBlocker.dll
C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd
C:\WINDOWS\System32\olescm32.dll,
C:\Program Files\Windows SyncroAd\WinSync.exe

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Ok, major badness has resulted: I'm now logged in from 2nd pc.

Did as you suggested and fixed all of the checked boxed using hijackthis - took my time and didn't click on any random ones :D

Restarted in safe mode and had a system crash immediately, cannot start in safe mode nor can i roll back to the previous working settings.

I can boot using my XP cd and get to the windows command line in dos, but permission is denied for other folders outside the windows folder and subfolders.

THis is from JonnyRotten.....I believe you can click start, run, type msconfig, select the boot.ini tab and check the /safeboot box and click ok. Your computer will restart in safe mode. When you're done , do the same thing to uncheck the box and restart normally.

This is the thing... After I ran hijackthis I used msconfig to reboot in safe mode, but one of the alterations has made the system unstable - it cannot start in windows at all, im locked out, it's encountering a system error before windows has even fully loaded. The only thing i can do is boot from the xp cd to get into the windows directory through dos to repair. Whatever I do through here, it's going to have to be through the windows directory in dos - going through windows isn't going to happen.

How can I restore the changes made by hijack this? Any ideas - the fact that i cant open any directories other than windows and subfolders of windows isnt going to help much...

Put the disk in and boot the computer to the Setup screen. Pick install windows Xp, next screen will be the license agreement, press F8 to accept. Next screen press R for repair installation. You will not lose any data, but I think you will lose all critical updates and service packs. Small price to pay to fix the OS.
