My PC crashes when intsalling windows 2000 server. It crashes on the setup is starting windows 2000. I have replaced VGA card and I have removed all Cards on my PC. The only thing that I am running now is a VGA acrd the motherboard and memory and CPU which is P4 1.6Ghz. Thanks.

No crash error. It just freezes on the setup is starting windows 2000 screen. I am using 4x64RIMMs for memory. Thank you.

tapping f8, can you enter safe mode or vga mode and does it work?

crashes during a fresh installation of windows 2000 server. With a 20GB western digital hdd.

that does not answer the question....you should still be able to reboot and tap f8 to get into safe mode if (as you say), this occurs during startup (after SETUP is complete)

Or has setup NOT completed?

The setup has not been installed yet. I am unable to install windows 2000. Thank You.

did you disable onboard peripherals in bios?

What kind of mouse/keyboard are you using--usb or ps2?

Before installing, download a bootable memory tester like memtest86+ (google) and burn it to a CD, and boot with it to test memory.

You're installing from a 2000 cd?

My keyboard and mouse is PS2 I have not disabled devices through the BIOS. ie sound card LAN card. I am doing a installation with a CD. I will try the ram test diagnostics. Thanks

do disable any non essential peripherals....

if it still fails, this is a clean install, right? No other OS is present?

Ok so I will disable all periphirals and try to install windows. I am doing a clean installation of windows.There are no other operating system present. Thanks again
