I have gone through all your steps, but still can't remove the torjan spy or psgaurd off my computer. I have two icons in the bottom tool bar that just say your computer is infected. I have two PSGaurd icons on my desktop that won't leave as well as it had changed my wallpaper to a blue back ground that says "Security Warning, a fatal error in IE has occuredat 0028:c0011536 in VXD VMM(01) + 00010E36. Error caused by Trojan-spy.html.smitfraud.com. Also when I load internet explorer I get some pop-ups and link in my toolbar to a host of different sites. The PSGaurd also loads and for $20 bucks it says it will remove the trojan, just give them your Visa number. Should I do that?, just kidding. Any help you could give me with the situation would be greatly appreciated. Oh here is the Hijack this.

Hi shaner64 and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. If you haven't logged in go to Geeks to Go and do so. Then proceed to item a.

If you already have logged in, go directly to item a.

a. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window.
b. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
c. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from its present location.

4. Download and run the following HijackThis autoinstall program from Here HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Close ALL windows except HJT

B. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

C. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

Download smitRem.zip and save the file to your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

O21 - SSODL: OLE Module - {0656A137-B161-CADD-9777-E37A75727E78} - (no file)

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

Now using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following files/folders(and all of their content), if they still are present:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\INTEL32.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SVCNUT32.EXE

Open Ad-Aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Now open Ewido Security Suite
  • Click on scanner
  • Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
    • Binder
    • Crypter
    • Archives
  • Click on Start Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save Report
  • Save the report to your desktop
Close Ewido

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Website > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked!

Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.

Let us know if any problems persist.

Finally, run HJT, click SCAN, and post a log back into this thread for review.

Regards,

Trevuren

Thanks for you last post, just a couple of questions before I proceed. After I check off the boxes in HJT, do I click on the FIX box. Also when I download the smitRem.zip file and try to open it, something comes up and says what program do you what to open this file with. I am not sure I have the right programs to properly open the zip file. Sorry about the lack of knowledge in the computer area. What should I do?

1. No, just follow the script and everything should be done for you :tazz:

2. Download a trial version of WinZip from HERE

This should open these Zip files for you.
