Ok... The one trouble is c:\WINDOWS\System32\rukhrh.exe
I can NOT delete it. It gives me an error message saying ACCESS DENIED, MAKE SURE SURE DISK IS NOT FULL OR WRITE PROTECTED AND NOT CURRENTLY IN USE.
Some of the files were there and were deleted while some were not there. Anyhow here is the new Log file. Thanks!

1. Hit the file with Killbox over and over, regardless of the message.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\rukhrh.exe

2. Then try removing the HJT entry: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rukhrh.exe reg_run and with all windows closed, click Fix checked, EXIT the program.

3. Then REBOOT your system and produce a fresh HJT log for review,

If this doesn't work, we will have to try and work around it somehow.

Regards,

Trevuren

I was able to delete the file using KILLBOX and run the FIX using Hijackthis. I ran another log file before the reboot and it was not in the log file. I then rebooted the system and produced a NEW log file and it CAME BACK! :tazz:

Disable EWIDO GUARD and try again please. Often EWIDOGUARD prevents registry changes.

I disabled (actually uninstalled it) the program. I again did what you suggested from the previous reply and deleted using KILLBOX. I ran a log file before reboot and again after reboot. As you can see it still appears after the reboot as in the line:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rukhrh.exe reg_run
Hope this helps any :tazz:
The first log file is BEFORE the reboot. The second logfile is AFTER the reboot.

We must stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

1. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'

Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK

Click the Extended tab.

Scroll down until you find the service.

Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

Click once on the service to highlight it.

Click Stop

Right-Click on the service.

Click on 'Properties'

Select the 'General' tab

Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box

From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'

Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'

The service is now stopped and disabled.

2. Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite from: HERE Do not install EWIDO GUARD

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

2. Please download Nailfix.exe from HERE and Save it to your Desktop

* Create a Folder on your Desktop and name it NailFix
* Extract both files from NailFix.zip into this new folder

Please do NOT run it yet.

3. Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see HERE

4. Once in Safe Mode, please open your new NailFix folder and double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

5. Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.
6. Next run HijackThis, click Scan, and put a check mark beside:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - c:\windows\SvcProc.exe (file missing)

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

7. Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

PS. The EWIDO site is down tonight. Try it tomorrow unless you kept the original download.

Regards,

Trevuren

I'm back! I did as requested, but those two files F2 and 023 were not present in the scan, but the line
04 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rukhrh.exe reg_run
was present so I checked it and deleted it. I reran a new scan and it was gone.
After the reboot it was still gone!

Congratulations, your log shows that your SYSTEM IS CLEAN

There are a few things you must do once you are completely clean:

1. Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files from the backup that Windows makes as no program is able to clean those files:

TO DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE
1. Right-click "My Computer", and then left click "Properties".
2. Left click on "System Restore Tab"
3. Check box beside "Turn Off System Restore"
4. Left click on "Apply"

TO ENABLE SYSTEM RESTORE
1.Remove check mark from "Turn Off System Restore"
2.Click on "Apply"

2. Cleanup the leftovers. Download CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.

3. Finally, Re-hide your System Files and Folders to prevent any future accidents.

Here are some tips to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future:

Make sure you keep your Windows OS current by visiting Windows update
regularly to download and install any critical updates and service packs. With out these you are leaving the backdoor open.

I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
To protect yourself further:
  • Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place? (My Favorite)

Regards,

Trevuren
