1. Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite from: HERE

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

2. Please download Nailfix.exe from HERE and Save it to your Desktop

* Create a Folder on your Desktop and name it NailFix
* Extract both files from NailFix.zip into this new folder

Please do NOT run it yet.

3. Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see HERE

4. Once in Safe Mode, please open your new NailFix folder and double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

5. Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.
6. Next run HijackThis, click Scan, and put a check mark beside:


F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe


Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

7. Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

3. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode without networking.

4. Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for System Startup Service (SvcProc) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled. (if present)

6. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on
Nailfix.cmd Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

7. Now open and run Ewido:

• Click on scanner
• Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• During the scan when it ask if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK
• When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
• Save the report to your desktop

Close Ewido


8. Open HiJack, click SCAN.

9. Put a Check next to the following items:

Hi trevuren just posting the next lot of logs. I did have a problem finding the mmnpedd.exe process in hijack this. But you did say that i may not be there right? Also mmnpedd.exe and svcproc.exe were not in my explorer to delete till after i restarted in normal mode. They are still there as i didn't know if it was safe to delete them yet. My computer is running ok but the look of my desktop has changed colour can i put this back?

My firewall is also still warning me of aurareco.exe, thnall1a.exe and zazfpdrtjob.exe are trying to access outside servers don't know if these will be taken care of in a later step.

A. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'

• Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK
  
• Click the Extended tab.
  
• Scroll down until you find the service.

• Click once on the service to highlight it.
  
• Click Stop
  
• Right-Click on the service.
  
• Click on 'Properties'

1. Update Ewido's definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

2. Please download Nailfix.exe from HERE and Save it to your Desktop

* Create a Folder on your Desktop and name it NailFix
* Extract both files from NailFix.zip into this new folder

Please do NOT run it yet.

3. Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

4. Once in Safe Mode, please open your new NailFix folder and double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

5. Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.
6. Next run HijackThis, click Scan, and put a check mark beside:

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

A. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'

• Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK
  
• Click the Extended tab.
  
• Scroll down until you find the service.

You may have to repeat this procedure 3-5 times to kill Nail as it is extremely resistant. You will know that it is gone when it no longet appears as an F2 item in your HJT log after reboot.

Please RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zpjvexk] c:\windows\system32\tbdzhrx.exe r
O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - c:\windows\SvcProc.exe (file missing)

Now with all the items selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window.

3. We will now delete the service:

• Open HJT
• Click on Config>>Misc Tools>>Delete an NT Service
• Type [COLOR=red}SvcProc[/COLOR] in the space provided and click OK
• The program will ask you to REBOOT --- Accept

4. REBOOT into SAFE MODE

5. Using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following files (if it still is present):

c:\windows\system32\tbdzhrx.exe
c:\windows\SvcProc.exe

6. REBOOT back into Normal Mode

7. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.
