Ok when I start up my computer it takes longer than usual and it says "runner file name (CompaqConnections.exe) lacks a '_' (the app id separator) or something very close to that. What's goin on?

Also there is a transparent document or file or something on my desktop called "thumbs". I think it's a data base file or soemthing? Also what's this?

Also I would like to run Cleanup ( I believe that's what it's called ) but on the instructions it says there is a small chance that it could really mess up my computer. How can I make a backup or restore point without any extra software or hardware in case this happens and then how would I reload that?
