Hi,

I installed Call Of Duty onto one computer and lost the cd when I went to install it on our new gaming computer so i copied the install dir.

I recently got the United Offensive expansion for it but cannot install it due to a bad installation.

The error messages words are:

Setup could not locate a valid installation of Call of Duty
Call of Duty must be installed before installing Call of Duty United Offensive
Click OK to exit installer

I am thinking maybe its missing registry entries? Although the game, single player and multiplayer, work fine... Also it still has its cd-key there.. (I know because it tells me when I look through the multiplayer options.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

well. see its hard to answere this. Its hard to prove that you lost the cd versus downloading a copy online. However the registry entries don't get you by cd protection.

i'll post them when I get home from work in a few hours. DO you have your old system still? you could just export the reg key from it to the new system.

ok, open notepad and copy and past the following code:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision]
@=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Call of Duty]
"InstallPath"="C:\\CALLOF~1"
"InstallDrive"="E:"
"Language"="1"
"StartMenuFolder"="C:\\Documents and Settings\\starjax\\Start Menu\\Programs\\Call of Duty"
"Version"="1.5"
"pb"="1"
"codkey"="your cd key here"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Call of Duty United Offensive]
"InstallPath"="C:\\Call of Duty"
"key"="your cd key here"
"InstallDrive"="E:\\"
"Language"="1"
"StartMenuFolder"="Call of Duty - United Offensive"
"Version"="1.51"

for install path change to the path where your game is intalled at
install drive is the letter of the cd drive you installed from
key=your cd key (note that I did remove my key... :tazz: )

save the file as cod.reg on your desktop.
double click the file and allow it to merge with your registry.

Okay thanks.

EDIT: Found you need to put "REGEDIT4" or "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" at the very beginning before it works...

EDIT: Nope... still have the same error message :tazz: Any more suggestions?
