;) I'm following the fix you gave to sjoa. I can't see where to download Hijackthis that you mention, I have downloaded the other files you suggested. Is this fix carried out all in safe mode after the reboot? and can I carry out the fix off line from the start after I have downloaded the files? I have gone through the fix but the Ad and the change of colour (ie black backgroung instead of blue with the warning about viruses etc) to my first screen is still there. I;m hoping that you can assist I really don't want to buy there product now out of principle. :tazz:

First of all how do I download Hijackthis, ;) I see it's required on a lot of fixes? :help: I had a problem with Av gold giving me a warning about viruses etc, I followed the advice given to sjoa, and I no longer have the Ad on screen after boot up. My problem now is I have 2 screens screen1 is white with icons edged in blue, screen2 is plain blue with icons as I require. I don't use screen savers etc as my computer is used only for music, ie Cubase SX3. I have downloaded Xoftspy, SpsetHjfix,CWshredder cwsservice Killbox ewido security suite Ad-Aware se. I also have installed Nortonsytem works 2005 and several reg cleaners. and fixers Sybot etc. I have run in safe mode ewido security full scan, with no errrors found, therefor I don't have a log to show you. Can you please HELP ;)
I HAVE FOUND OUT HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND USE HIJACKTHIS. :tazz:

Welcome nickyboy1 to Geeks to Go!

Download SmitRem
your desktop.
Right click on the file and extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

***

Place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

***

Update AdAware.

***

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Open HijackThis
Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

O2 - BHO: Class - {4AA47989-6BD9-07E6-9314-1645514309FD} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: Class - {C07A7FBC-4843-E91F-FEB6-8EDBA5E50E6C} - (no file)

O2 - BHO: Class - {CC5DFEE2-722A-5C44-8CC5-7BAD2AA546F5} - (no file)

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running.
Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

***

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
Post me the contents of the smitfiles.txt log as you post back.

***

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

***

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Website > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

***

Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut, then do a full system scan. Make sure the autoclean box is checked!
Save the scan log and post it along with a new HijackThis Log and the contents of the smitfiles.txt log by using Add Reply.

How are things now?

After removing the 7 items from the Hijack list and unchecking Security info the screen reverted back to its orijinal colour. The problem is cleared. :tazz: ;)

Please download WebRoot SpySweeper from here:
http://www.webroot.c...6d6f87b866d2848
(It's a 2 week trial)

Click the "Free Trial" button.
Download it and install it.
When you open the program, it will prompt you to update to the latest definitions.
Please do so, then click "Sweep Now"
Then click the "Start" button.
When it's done scanning, click the "Next" button.
Remove everything it finds, then save the log - copy the log and paste it here for me.

You can uninstall SpySweeper after this. I don't recommend it running next to Norton.

You can disable the splash screen on startup this way:

Click on Start - Programs - Creative - SoundBlaster Audigy - Creative EAX
Click on the Settings icon
Uncheck the Load on Startup option

Close all windows and reboot.

Better now?
