Here is what I have done:
1. Removed the hard and put on clean testbed as slave. Ran Trend and Microsoft AV
2. Fixed screwy HOSTS file so it could route properly
3. Reinstalled in laptop.
4. Uninstalled NAV and did a fresh install of NAV Corp.
5. Ran NAV and took off identified viruses.
6. Ran MS AV again.
7. Uninstalled MSAV *forever* and Ran Ad-aware (which I've used for years) after realizing MSAV is complete glitzy garbage.
8. Thought it was all good, patted myself on back.
9. Did all MS updates.
10. Started seeing symptoms again, and started looking at these forums.

11-99 ran more times than I can count, antivirus, hijackthis, cleanup, ad-aware, cwshreded, spybot, ewido, etc.
Most of the time I was doing these in order and exactly as specified by particular threads, that at that moment, most closely emulated my problems.
The last time through I did these EXACTLY in the order set on the "must read before posting hijackthis" page. (to prepare for this post.)
Antivirus now finds nothing. Ad-aware now finds nothing. Then ewido finds "delfin." Also things just don't feel 100%. System is still a bit sluggish. Icons "refresh" more than I would expect, and more slowly than I would expect, The IE address bar seems to search msn any time the web page doesnt have www - although I use firefox, so maybe this is what ie does now?
Anyway, I'm posting my hijackthis file in hopes that you guys who have more experience with these...<explicative deleted>
