Cd-rw drive wont show cd

i previousely had a different burner and sometimes use a regular cd rom, but when i use my new one thats compatable with my dell it reads the drive but when i put a music cd nothing shows up it doesnt read nothing i tried the regular cd rom and it reads everything.
