Hi there! :tazz:

This is my first time here. My problem is this: every time I click on a link that opens in a new window, the original webpage closes. It is the same thing if I try to open a new window when one is already open. You can imagine how difficult this makes life.

I'm also starting to see some webpages having double underlines on some words with ads for Dell today.

Please ;)

Thanks!

Hello there!

If you suspect Spyware or a virus on your PC please go to the MALWARE forums and state your problem to the experts there. You will get a response within 10 minutes!

However, here are some programs to remove spyware and prevent it from entering your sytem. :tazz:

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  • SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  • SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
  • IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  • CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
  • Weather Watcher - Free taskbar weather program that is free, malware free, and resource light.
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein

Good Luck! ;)

That's way too,,,
You shouldn't promise things like this to people. Malware removal forum is way too busy to give answers in 10 minutes.
Also if jenelle starts from this thread
s/he will get needed programs and the help. But you really have to be patient.

Thanks all for your help.

When I made the post, I also did a Cleanup! Two bootups later and the problem SEEMS to be gone. :tazz:

I'm not sure if this all happened when I downloaded Yahoo! messenger, so I will take the advice of Werner and use one of those instant messenger programs instead.

However, should I still do the list of steps with the Malware and Adware stuff you guys recommend?? (except for the preventative ones, of course)

Thanks again for your help, it's pretty decent.

Jenelle
(BTW, I'm a she)

Yes, I would definately recomend getting some type of preventitive scanners and tools on your pc, The problemcan get so bad that you cannot even get to a web page. If you dont have these tools on your pc it can make getting your pc VERY hard.
