I saved an attachment (screened for virus) to desktop. It opened with 60+ icons showing on my desktop. I deleted these and they were immediately replaced by more: headers, footers, notepad symbols, GIF file icons, etc. These are all having babies and now I have copies of copies of copies into the thousands. I did system restore..no help. Microsoft: no help. No one has ever heard of this. I reran my Norton virus scan...no virus. Got a message saying virtual memory was low. I am gettin petrified. Cany anybody out there help me???
Thanks, Karen

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
