Hi

I am new and I have a problem..... oops sorry wrong board..

Well I do have a problem. I am not that great a computers but I can find my way around, so here goes....

Please help?

I am running an older computer with windows 98SE installed. It had two hard drives (the D one being back up). It has 512 ram and a slowish 900AMD processor.

The problem is over the last week the computer will not start up when the second drive is in the unit. It gets to the point of checking for discs and says to press esc to abort and enter set up. (It is not seeing any drives at all)

If I remove the drive (A WD400 drive) the unit boots up and runs perfectly.

I have the bios settings to auto detect all drives and remember the drive was in the computer for a year or so working. All my bios settings look ok.

The drive is working because I put it into another machine and was able to burn some important stuff onto a cd. The drive is formatted FAT32 and as I said before it was working for about a year.

I think the problem is on the mother board but not sure………Any ideas??

Thanks

Andrew
