Hey! I'm new here and definitely not a geek (to go or otherwise). But I'm learning how to do this myself without paying through the nose. My question:

I'm trying to remove w32 spybot and symantec says I should backup the registry first. They suggest to go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Backup. Then, if you don't see "backup", it gives optional directions for Microsoft Home and Professional, but not Office, which is what I have. Is there a way to back up Office XP, or should I go straight to their directions on removal?

Thanks guys! I hope you can help.

Please run a free online virus scan here (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Cheers
