best anti virus?

Is norton any good. We have recently lost or better comp. as it supposedly got a virus? it fried the cpu, drivers and the hard drive . So the question is what is a good, but not too expensive antivirus, norton has been suggested, mainly as that is what is on the local shops shelves

Give AVG avaialble from www.grisoft.com a go.. They have a freeware version that is quite good.. Also, AVast has a freeware version out that is getting some good reviews!!

hmmm i had AVG wasnt doing nothing for me i wud go for Panda Titanium antivirus 2005 that has always worked for me
