Internet explorer doesnt open at alll anymore. Dont know what happened but Ive tried several things and it no longer opens. I started using Mozilla as my browser. But I still would like to have IE browser available to me and working especially when trying to download things that Mozilla doesnt support like Trendmicro online scan.
I called my local computer radio show and the only thing he recommended was to reinstall windows XP all over again.
CAN ANYONE HELP? I HAVE WINDOWS XP SERVICE PAK 1 (NOT SERVICE PAK 2).
SO I click on icon and nothing happens. Ive run several spyware scans and mcafee virus scan and still nothing.

How to reinstall IE 6:

I'm not exactly sure if it's this way in english versions of XP because I am translating it from Dutch.

Start > control panel > software > add/remove Windows components > uncheck IE 6 and click next. Follow the instructions on your screen and insert the XP disc when asked to do so. Reboot and see see if your problem is fixed.

Deleting IE6 goes in the same order as reinstalling it. Do that and after doing so, download IE6 HERE.

If you manually update your version of XP using IE, you will not be able to do that anymore. You can download it from HERE.

It would be a good idea making a system restore point, yes.

It says you have a newer version of IE6 because of service pack 2. Uninstall sp2 and then try reinstalling IE6. Once you've done that, you can install sp2 again.

I downloaded service pak 2 and NOW I was able to open Internet explorer with noproblem. then I uninstalled it and went back to service pak 1 and I cant open IE again so perhaps service pak 2 is only solution to download it again so that IE can work? Do you have service pak 2 installed?
