[Diflana]

I am somewhat computer savvy, but would appreciate it if you tell me what to do in lay man's terms. I've spent the last few hours trying to remove spyware from my computer and I can't seem to get rid of it completely - the only thing that I can recognize as a problem is the WSEM update file, but you may find more things wrong than that. I've already followed the directions in the "before you post..." category. Please help me! I can't stand the pop ups anymore and I'm very concerned about my privacy.

Thank you so much for your speedy response! I'm having trouble downloading the V2X Cleaner. I've downloaded it, but when I look in Ad aware under plug ins it says "Bad Entrypoint" and I can't 'run plugin'. What should I do?!

Is there another way to do this? I've installed the cleaner a couple times now and it keeps coming up the same way. I don't konw what else to do. This is not working for me. I noticed that when people posted their highjack this lists they were told to remove certain things. I wasn't instructed to do that. Should I be deleting anything from my list and then installing it?? Please help me! I'm beyond frustrated at this point.

Okay, I erased the copy i had of the cleaner and re installed it. When it scanned my computer, it says that my system is clean. I rebooted and when my Ad aware scan automatically did its thing when my computer came on, it said that I had 40 new objects. I quarantined them. In the original instructions that Yarnouth sent me, he asked me to scan my computer again w/ highjack this after I did the previously mentioned items. The following is my new high jack this list. Please tell me what to do from here. I'm still getting pop ups - and I have a pop up blocker.

Hi diflanna. I don't have much time to go over your log, but these two entries need to go. One of the other guys should be along soon and can help you with the rest of this. This will give them a head start, though.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

-> Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:

• Automatically save log-file
• Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
• Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :

• Scan Within Archives
• Scan Active Processes
• Scan Registry
• Deep Scan Registry
• Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
• Scan my Hosts file
• Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
• All of your hard drives

-> Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:

• Include additional process information
• Include additional file information
• Include environment information
• Include additional object details

-> Click the Tweak button and select:

• Under the Scanning Engine:
  • Unload recognized processes during scanning
  • Include basic Ad-aware settings in logfile
  • Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile
• Under the Cleaning Engine:
  • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot

-> Click on Proceed to save the settings.

-> Click Start and on the next screen choose Activate in-depth Scan at the bottom of the page and then choose:

• Use Custom Scanning Options

-> Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

-> Save the log file when it asks and then click Finish

-> When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

-> Reboot your computer.

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Someone please help me! I still have some funky programs in my computer and when I try to uninstall/remove them, an error window pops up to tell me that "An error occurred while trying to remove CashBack by Bargain Buddy. It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove Cash Back by Bargain Buddy from the Add or Remove programs list?" There are a few other programs that prompt the same error message and I'm afraid to delete them. Do you see anything in my hijack this log that I can remove to get rid of this crap?? This is so frustrating. You guys are saints. Thanks in advance.

Please reboot into safe mode - How do I boot into "Safe" mode?.
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):
C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvms.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mscb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msbe.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\moguqs.exe

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot your PC.

I was able to boot in safe mode. I didn't find the named files though. I enabled the hidden files and they still weren't showing up. Everytime I reboot it seems that those same BHO files keep coming up in my hijack this log and I keep deleting them - over and over again. They just won't stay away!!! What should I do?
