So I posted a hijack log yesterday to see if something there might have been causing me the problems. But no one replied to my post ;) So among a few other porlbems I'm having this one is driving me crazy, because I have some letters I need to print and get into the mail. I'm trying to re-install the cd to go with my printer Lexmark p707 It was previously working, then the other day I click print and nothing, stated no printer found. So i re-boot it shows up as new hardware found, but just keep getting errors. Yesterday I got an error like C:\programs~1\symantec\s32event1dll. An instable virtuial device driver failed dll initalization. Choose close to terminate the application. I clcik ignore, disk runs get to 100% then nothing. So I search this site for help. Completely remove norton stuff from my pc (which I thought I'd already done about a month ago) reboot try again. Get some kinda spooler error. again search this site, do as suggested. Nothing but that error is gone now. Now I'm getting this when I insert the CD System\Current Control Set\Control\Virtuial Device Drivers. VDD. Virtuial Device Driver Format in the registry is invalid. :tazz: Choose Close to terminate the Application. I again try ignore, set up starts - runs - shows copying files hits 100% then nothing happens. HELP PLEASE I did run registry mechanic. I'm not real computer literate, so plain english step by step please if anyone can help me out here. Thanks so much for taking the time to read. ;) Now I just did a search of my pc using lexmark and I get this folder C:\WINDOWS\LastGood\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\lexmark_z700_p700_se03a8 can I use something in here to try n fix the problem ??? Thanks for the reply.
Just checked and my last good system restore is july 6th. I will try it but its probably not back far enough. I had to do a disable system restore (per reading posts) to remove the rest of norton. Whats my next option. ??

System restore did not help. Actually may have caused more harm ;) I am again getting the stupic log on screen that when booting logon message states unable to log on because of an account restriction, I clcik ok then the welcome screen with my name comes up and I click on that before anything starts. I use to have no name etc... windows just started and went straight to desktop. (i prefered it that way, but cant seem to get back to it) Now back to the printer. Restored to last available date. Now when I insert the disk I'm getting the same error as previously...C:\Program~1\Symantec\s32Evnt1Dll. An instable virtuial device driver failed dll initalization. Chose close to treminate the application (or ignore) as stated in earlier post I thought I resolved this error, but still could not install printer. :tazz: Now that error is back. I no longer use norton. Guess I have to go back and figure out how to remove the ramaining files for that again.

Check to see if your print spooler service is running. Right click 'my computer'>manage>services/applications>services If it's not running, right click the service and start it. If it won't stay 'started', your registry is corrupt. I used the following link successfully on a friends pc:

Thanks for the help. Yes the spooler service is started. While in the services I noticed something called LexBce nothing under description or status startup type is disabled log on as Local System. It does not give me the option to start or enable from the main window. When I right clcik I get this C:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXE In a drop down box below I can chose disabled, (currently marked) automatic or manual. Does this even have anything to do with the printer ???

I believe that is the print monitor....see my signature, get hijackthis, download it, copy and paste a log.

We need to stop something---also, how old is this printer?
