iexplorer.exe problem

HI,
When i try to shut down my laptop, it appears the message :<<iexplorer.exe >> cannot shut down.
i press ''end now'' , but still cannot shut down, but only after 2-3 attempts.

i did windows update (i use win XP HOme) and did defragmentation as well.

still experiencing the problem.

any help please ?

How long have you had this problem? Did it just start?

check if you have any malware/spyware, go to the malware forum and check your machine against the above.
I have had many instances when explorer.exe hangs because another process doesn't want to end its connection and the majority of those processes were malware or viruses.
so update your antivirus software as well.
